How does EveryStem calculate flower math?
EveryStem uses a standard flower math formula to calculate the prices of your floral designs.
The cost (wholesale price) of each item (flower or hard good) is multiplied by the markup assigned to that item.
For example a Quicksand Rose is $3.00 at cost (wholesale price). Your primary markup is set to 3.
$3 X 3 = $9
If you add 3 Quicksand Roses into your recipe and your markup is 3.
$9 (per rose) X3= $27
And you add a bud vase which is a hard good item and it is assigned to your secondary markup.
Let's say the bud vase is $1 at cost (wholesale price). Your secondary markup is set to 2.
$1 X 2 = $2
EveryStem totals these numbers together 3 Quicksand Roses $27 + 1 bud vase $2. = $29
The Labor Fee (if checked) is added on top of this total. Let's say you add a 30% labor fee.
$29 x 30% = $8.7
$29+ $8.7 = $37.70
The retail value of this bud vase design with 3 roses and 1 vase is $37.70
Be sure to enter the price you charge your client for this design in the Quoted Price Box. This will give EveryStem the information it needs to calculate your profit margin accurately. You can round up to an even number. For this example: Quoted Price = $40
Why aren't my wholesale prices auto updating in my events after I update them in my library?
Editing item information in your library will only affect new events. Any existing event you have already created and added items to will not be adjusted when you edit your library items.
This is because you do not want to have all your prices automatically change every time you make a change to your library information.
For example, your prices have gone up on all your roses and snapdragons, but you've already placed your order for events coming up for the next month with the lower prices and your wholesalers will honor those prices. You do not want to change the price in the library and have all those events automatically change to higher costs because that would cause your profit margin and summary page information to be inaccurate.
So, keep in mind that if you want to change item information in an existing event that you've already created, you have several options:
1) Edit the item directly in that event – click on the item name and edit the information.
2) Use the Library Item Update feature to copy updated item information (wholesale price, vendor name, etc.) from your library to selected event(s).

3) Use the Swap Item feature to switch out the old item for your new library version.

How do I add wholesale prices without worrying about the price going up and down frequently?
You can add your wholesale prices with a buffer in EveryStem. Many of our members enter their highest wholesale prices of the season into EveryStem to allow for some wiggle room. Also leave a positive difference in the recipe when creating quotes so that when you receive final wholesale prices, it's easy to adjust the recipe slightly and still stay on track to make a healthy profit. When it comes time to finalize a flower order, you can update wholesale prices in the library and use the Library Item Updates Feature mentioned above to easily update the pricing in your event (watch the video for details).
